What is Biathlon Ontario?

Biathlon Ontario is a member division of Biathlon Canada and is responsible for all aspects of biathlon in the Province of Ontario. Biathlon Ontario is the sanctioning body for the conduct of biathlon competitions in the Province of Ontario, and is considered the Provincial Sporting Organization for such events as the Ontario Winter Games. Biathlon Ontario appoints the members of the Ontario Team which competes at the Canadian National Championships.

Biathlon Canada is the Canadian National Sporting Organization for biathlon and is a member of the IBU, the International Biathlon Union, which is the International Sporting Organization for biathlon. Click here to visit the Biathlon Canada web site and Click here to visit the IBU web site.

We're proud of our athletes and pleased with their accomplishments. Ontario athletes have a long history of participating in biathlon - many members have been on Senior and Junior National Teams. And many more will be in the years ahead.

Biathlon is the winter sport of cross-country skiing and rifle marksmanship. At the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics biathlon's profile was significantly raised in the North American media with Myriam Bedard winning three medals (two Gold, one Bronze). Click Here to learn more about biathlon.
