Monitor Electronic Data

The image below shows one of the screens that you can use to monitor electronic data that is coming directly into BIAB from an electronic timing system.

BIAB will accept electronic data in near-real-time as it is generated during the competition, or as a batch of data immediately after the competition.  Start Times, Finish Times, Intermediate Times, Shooting Results and Penalty Loop Laps can all be accepted electronically, using the computers Serial Port (RS-232 Port) or a USB Port in conjunction with an appropriate RS-232-to-USB adaptor.

While the data is accepted automatically, the process must be monitored, so that you will not inadvertently use invalid data, such as false starts, or someone carelessly crossing the finish line. In the image above, BIAB has generated the 9999 bib number entries when a start impulse was received at an unexpected time. In the Finish Times the operator has entered an xxx as a bib number when a volunteer accidentally crossed the Finish Line. The 9999 and the xxx entries will cause BIAB to ignore those particular times when it is creating results.

In the screen above you can see the two small windows that are used to monitor each of the active Serial Ports through which BIAB is receiving data. BIAB can use two Serial Ports simultaneously, with one dedicated to an electronic target system, while the other receives timing data. You can use these monitoring windows to temporarily suspend, and then resume, the processing of data within the BIAB application.
