The Biathlon Ontario Membership Year is the same as the Biathlon Canada Membership Year

Membership Ages are as of December 31, 2011

ATHLETE MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES AND FEES (+ Zone 4 charges) FOR 2011-2012 ARE:
Junior Boys & Girls (13 & 14 or younger) - $75.00,   Junior Men & Women (19 & 20 yrs old) - $150.00
Senior Boys & Girls (15 & 16 yrs old) - $150.00,       Men & Women (21 to 34 yrs old) - $150.00
Youth Men & Women (17 & 18 yrs old) - $150.00,     Master Men & Women (age 35 and up) - $100.00

Please renew as soon as possible so that there are no problems with race registration, training courses, etc.

Notes on Membership:

You must be a member of both Biathlon Canada and Biathlon Ontario to participate in any Biathlon Ontario sanctioned activity.  Membership in Biathlon Ontario automatically confers membership in Biathlon Canada.

Types of Membership:

1. Club Membership

    Benefits include:

- Club Membership in Biathlon Canada and Biathlon Ontario

- Officers and Directors Liability Insurance

- Liability Insurance for Biathlon Club Competitions

- Liability Certificates of Insurance provided (if requested)

- Eligibility to benefit from Biathlon Ontario Club Support Programs

- Access to Biathlon Canada information and services (e.g.  Coaching / Officials Certification    Programs, Biathlon Bears Program)

- Listing on Biathlon Canada Web Site and a hotlink to your club web site

- Being represented by Biathlon Ontario at Biathlon Canada Executive and Annual General Meetings

2. Individual Members:

- Non-Competitors - coaches, officials, volunteers, supporters & "Recreational             Athletes"

This category includes a "Recreational Athletes” classification which is defined by Biathlon Canada as “any athlete participating in the sport of biathlon at the club level only, and without participating in any competitions or activities other than “club activities” as defined by the Biathlon Canada By-Laws”. “Club activities” is defined as “activities, including competitions that exclusively involve members of that club”.

- Athletes (Junior Girls, Junior Boys, and all competitors who are younger)

- Athletes (Senior Boys, Senior Girls and all competitors of both genders who are   older than Senior Boys/Girls)

Benefits for Individual Members include:

Membership card reflecting Membership in both Biathlon Canada and Biathlon Ontario

For Athletes, the right (providing other eligibility criteria are met) to participate in all Events sanctioned by:  the IBU; Biathlon Canada; other national biathlon organizations (such as the USBA); Biathlon Ontario; and any other division of Biathlon Canada.

Liability Insurance

Eligible to access Biathlon Ontario and Biathlon Canada information and services (ie., Coaching and Officials Certification Programs)

For Athletes,eligibility to attend Biathlon Ontario Athlete training and development camps

Eligibility to attend Biathlon Ontario and Biathlon Canada Coaches and Officials training courses

Voting privileges within Biathlon Ontario

Day Membership -- Use of this type of Membership is limited to a single Event in each season.

- Benefits include:

Day membership in Biathlon Ontario and Biathlon Canada, to permit participation in the competition held on the day(s) for which membership is purchased

The Day Membership category exists to allow participation, on a trial basis, in Biathlon Ontario sanctioned Competitions.   Day Members are not eligible to participate in non-athletic Training Programs (eg: for Coaches and Officials) and have no voting privileges and cannot be named to any Biathlon Ontario team.  However, if a competitor takes out any other form of membership in a competition year in which they have purchased Day Membership(s), the Day Membership cost(s) will be credited towards the cost of the other membership that is subsequently purchased.
